Jacob McMurtry
Coach McMurtry is entering his 11th year of public education in the state of Texas. It will be his first year here in Madisonville where he will be the Head Baseball coach as well as an Assistant Football coach on the offensive side of the ball while teaching English at the High School.
Coach McMurtry graduated from Troy High School (2008) and went on to play baseball for Sam Houston State (2008-2012) in Huntsville as a pitcher. Before coming to Madisonville, Coach McMurtry worked as the head baseball coach at Apple Springs ISD and Rockdale ISD for a total of 5 years, but he then worked at College Station High School and Highland Park ISD as an assistant coach the last 5 years. During his first 7 years, Coach McMurtry was a Wide Receiver’s coach, and was a part of the coaching staff that helped Rockdale win the 3A State Championship in 2017. Also, over the last 5 summers, Coach McMurtry has been the first assistant and Pitching Coach for the Victoria Generals –a college summer league team in the Texas Collegiate League– where they have won one league championship, and finished as the runner-ups twice.
Coach McMurtry enjoys playing golf, relaxing during his time at home, and taking trips to go see different MLB teams and stadiums. #TexasRangersForever
