Rusty Nail

Coach Nail is entering his 33rd year serving in public education for the state of Texas.  Coach Nail currently serves as the Athletic Director for Madisonville CISD.  Coach Nail was an assistant coach in Madisonville, Huntsville, Runge, Elgin, Marlin,  West, Waco Connally, and Conroe for 15 years prior to receiving his first head coaching job with Mart ISD.  Coach Nail was a head football coach in Mart and Madisonville, Texas for 12 seasons compiling a career record of 124-38.  Coach Nail made the playoffs in nine of his twelve seasons as a  head football coach and coached in five state championship games winning two state championships at Mart High School in 2006(Cisco)and 2010 (Goldthwaite), while  finishing as the runner up in 2003 (Atlanta), 2008(Canadian), 2012 (Stamford). Coach Nail also served as  a Head Coach in Track and Field, Baseball, Basketball, Softball and Powerlifting in his first 15 years of his career.  Coach Nail served as a Regional Director for Region VI of  the THSCA from 2012-2015 and was a member of the THSCA South All Stars staff in 2010. 

Coach Nail has been married to Tawnya Crow Nail (Madisonville Intermediate Principal) for 32 years and they have three children: Collin (29), Bryson (26), and Alyssa (23).  Coach Nail is a graduate of Spring High School and Sam Houston State University.  In the fall of 2020 Coach Nail received his Masters in Certified Athletic Administration from the NIAAA Academy in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Coach Nail enjoys gardening, mentoring kids and coaches, and spending time with  his grandkids Fischer and Laiken!
